This is a striking vintage Chinese inside-painted glass sphere featuring an intricate scene of red-crowned cranes in flight and gathered throughout a watery landscape.
The large Chinese inscription reads 百鶴圖 (Bǎi Hè Tú), meaning "Hundred Cranes Picture." The smaller inscription reads 壬午年 (Rénwǔ nián), identifying a Ren-Wu or Water Horse year (2002).
The artwork was meticulously painted by hand on the interior surface of the hollow glass sphere through the small opening at the base, utilizing a traditional Chinese decorative technique.
Approx. Size: 4.5" diameter (sphere stands approx. 5.5" tall on the included dark reddish-brown wooden display stand).
CONDITION: Vintage pre-owned condition with clean, vibrant hand-painted details. The glass sphere is well-preserved, featuring minor expected scuffing and wear around the small opening at the base (where tools were inserted during creation), which is typical for inside-painted glass and rests hidden on the stand. The wooden display stand is included.
