This is a vintage Japanese eggshell porcelain replacement teacup decorated with white cranes against a powder-blue sky, with gold-tone edging and a pale yellow-green handle. The delicate, thin porcelain and softly rounded shape make it a lovely display piece or a potential replacement for an existing service. ONE CUP ONLY; no saucer is included.
The unmarked cup is attributed to the design cataloged by Replacements as Mitsu-Boshi (Japan) MIB3, White Cranes, Green Bills, Blue Sky. Replacements dates the pattern circa 1910; this cup is likely early 20th century, but its exact production year and maker cannot be confirmed. Please compare its dimensions and shape with your existing pieces.
Approx. Size: 2.25 inches high, 3.25 inches wide including the handle, and 2.5 inches across the body.
CONDITION: Very good preowned condition with no chips or cracks. The handle has fading and wear to its finish. A small dark speck at the bottom of the interior appears to be beneath the glaze and original to manufacture. See pictures for details.
