A stunning, authentic pair of vintage Mexican Talavera chamberstick candle holders, meticulously hand-formed and hand-painted by the artisans at the historic Casa Rugerio workshop in Puebla, Mexico.
This matching pair features a classic finger-loop handle design and a wide, flared base. The outstanding artistry is on full display across the top surface, showcasing an incredibly detailed, intricate pattern of traditional Mexican folk floral motifs, delicate scrollwork, and geometric borders. The vibrant palette features rich cobalt blue, deep terracotta orange, and sunshine yellow patterns layered beautifully against a classic, opaque milky-white tin-glazed background. A bright yellow band highlights the rim of the candle cups and handles, contrasting perfectly with the deep blue work below.
The undersides feature a clean, exposed red clay rim on the bottom edge and are hand-signed: "RUGERIO PUEBLA, PUE. MEX."
An exceptional, highly decorative addition for collectors of authentic Mexican folk art, historic Talavera pottery, or vibrant Southwestern home decor.
Approx Size: 6" D x 4.5" H (Each)
Condition Note:
Very good vintage condition overall. One candlestick is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The second candlestick (the one decorated with the floral motif around the neck/candle cup) has two small chips on the top rim that expose the dark red terracotta clay underneath, as clearly shown in the photos. Both pieces are structurally sound, free of major cracks or repairs, and the hand-painted glazes remain incredibly vibrant and glossy.
